A LITTLE LESS FILE. A LOT MORE ROOM.

Small files.
Good company.

GifLoom makes the GIF you want to share a little easier to send. A focused tool, a clear result, and your file stays on your device.

What GifLoom does

GifLoom is a free GIF compressor. Choose a local GIF, set a target file size or adjust scale, frame rate and color quality, then compare and download the result. No account, subscription, or watermark is involved.

Compression happens in a Web Worker in your browser. The tool combines animation frames and re-encodes them as a GIF, keeping animation and GIF transparency. The website does not provide a file upload or server-side processing service.

Honest about the trade-offs

Smaller files can mean smaller frames, fewer colors, or less smooth motion. A target is a goal, not a guarantee. GifLoom reports actual bytes and keeps the original if a new encoding would make it larger.

The current input limit is 50 MB, with additional animation complexity limits to protect browser memory. Very short source frame delays may be normalized for browser playback. Preview the result before using it.

One useful tool at a time

GIF compression is the first GifLoom tool. Other tools are planned for later releases; they are not available yet. Platform names on this website describe use cases and do not imply affiliation or endorsement.

Use files you have permission to edit

Your rights to your files stay with you. Choose GIFs you own or are allowed to modify and share. The built-in sample artwork was created for GifLoom.

Built with open-source tools

GifLoom uses gifuct-js and gifenc under the MIT license. Third-party license notices are included with the site.
